Obituaries of the Living 1: by William Helms

it’s funny but death, homelessness, break ups, certain birth days and other life changing events can have you really thinking about your life, where you are in your life, how others would see you and what they’d have to say about you if you were gone and so on. i know that unfortunately, there’ll be a few people who will have some awful things to say about me if i were gone — i hurt them although unintentionally and unwittingly through my own selfishness or thoughtlessness. i’ve tried to made amends where i can. for the most part, i think people would have good things to say about me — hopefully that they found me to be fun and dynamic. and that they loved me for my eccentricities . . . or that i was all too human.
personally, i hope to never, ever die. and i would be happy if god picked me out to be special. sure, that’s selfish but living is something else. but since we do die, in my heart i’m sure that reincarnation does happen. and if i could choose, i would always come back just for the small things — to be in an smoky cafe, watching beautiful women walk by as smoke gently climbs up the windows, to listen to a favorite song, a favorite album, to trade smiles with a beatiful stranger, to watch a ballgame or some other tiny thing. . . .
